Drawing inspiration from their local area, the owners of Billington’s legendary Deli researched what ingredients and botanicals grew in their immediate area of Lenzie and the wider East Dunbartonshire region, that could feature in Lenzie Gin. They were delighted to discover that cranberries and bilberries grew locally and so they are used in the distillation process, giving the gin its sweet, yet tart berry elements.

    About Lenzie Gin

Lenzie Gin was developed by owners of multi-award winning shop Billington’s of Lenzie, Mark and Sue Billington. The idea was born from the shop’s gin club and their love of gin and the complexity of botanicals. Determined to develop a gin that would represent the local area, investigations were initiated to source and research local botanics. The label was designed by owner Sue and includes the iconic Queen’s Building, which houses the Billington’s shop and the illustration highlights the berries used in distillation.

    Production

Owners Mark and Sue Billington enlisted the expertise of renowned distiller Lewis Scothern at Distillutions to help bring their gin to life and this is where production of the award-winning gin takes place. After exploring their local area and with guidance from ‘The Friends of Lenzie Moss’, it was discovered that cranberry and bilberry both grow locally on the popular nature reserve in Lenzie and so these are key botanicals in the production of Lenzie Gin.
