Nose of the Fairy Hill Scottish Gin from The Strontian Distillery features a range of classic gin botanicals alongside hazelnuts, lavender and raspberries, capturing the scents of the summer breeze.

The inspiration for Nose of the Fairy Hill Scottish Gin is Scots Gaelic name for Strontian, Sròn an t-Sìthein, which translates as Nose of the Fairy Hill. With its surrounding hills, it was once believed that the smaller hills and mounds surrounding Strontian were home to sídhe, a race of small supernatural elvish type creatures with the hills they inhabit acting as portals to other realms.

    About The Strontian Distillery

The Strontian Distillery was founded by husband and wife team Graeme and Vicki Aitken, who moved from Scotland’s east coast to the village of Strontian on the shores of Loch Sunart in 2020. Inspired by the area’s dramatic landscape, folklore and history, the couple launched their gin brand in 2024. Working with Lost Loch Distillery to develop their recipes, they created a core range of four Scottish gins - Ariundle, Nose of the Fairy Hill, Floating Kirk and SR38 - each inspired by local landmarks, stories and the four elements of air, earth, fire and water that shape the surrounding Highland environment.

    Production

Currently The Strontian Distillery develops its gin recipes in collaboration with the team at Lost Loch Distillery. Each gin is built on a classic juniper-led structure, with carefully selected botanicals chosen to reflect the character and stories of the Strontian area. The recipes were developed to represent the four elements of air, earth, fire and water, which underpin the brand’s core range. Following distillation, the gins are blended, reduced to bottling strength and packaged with labels and designs created in collaboration with local Highland artisans.
