Isle of Lewis Gin Camas Ùige is a London Dry Scottish Gin from the Isle of Lewis Gin. Named after Camas Ùige, the sweeping bay and beach at Uig, the gin draws inspiration from the wild Atlantic coastline and the Machair landscapes that surround this part of the island. The expression reflects the coastal character of Lewis, combining classic gin botanicals and locally foraged, with bright citrus and soft herbal notes that evoke the fresh sea air and coastal flora of the Outer Hebrides.

Tasting Notes

Flavours

  • Citrus
  • Coastal
  • Earthy
  • Floral
  • Herbaceous
  • Piney
  • Spiced
  • Nose

Bright juniper and fresh citrus oils, lifted by soft floral aromatics. Gentle herbal notes begin to emerge beneath the citrus, suggesting wild coastal plants and fresh greenery carried on Atlantic sea air.

    Taste

Crisp and refreshing with juniper firmly at the centre. Zesty citrus develops early before soft floral notes and light herbal complexity build across the mid-palate. Subtle spice from the supporting botanicals provides structure, while the overall profile remains clean, elegant and well balanced.

    Finish

Delicate herbal notes and lingering citrus peel combine with a gentle dryness. Juniper slowly fades alongside soft floral sweetness and a hint of warming spice, leaving a fresh and lightly coastal character.

    How to enjoy this gin

A wedge of orange, tonic and ice.

    About Isle of Lewis Distillers

Husband and wife Iain and Laura Irvine had long dreamed of relocating to the Isle of Lewis. Although both were from mainland Scotland, Iain’s family roots are on the island, and years of holidays exploring the Outer Hebrides deepened their connection to its landscape and community. After marrying at Lews Castle in Stornoway in 2019, the couple made the move permanent in 2021. Inspired by the island’s Machair habitat and native flora, they began developing a gin that captured the character of Lewis. Initially distilled with Lost Loch Distillery using spring water from their home, production moved to their own island distillery in April 2025, with plans to eventually grow their own botanicals.

    Production

Isle of Lewis Gin Distillery is located in the small community of Uig on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. The name Uig is believed to derive from the Old Norse word Vík, meaning “a bay”, a reminder of the area’s Viking heritage and its dramatic coastal setting. The distillery is home to a 100-litre engineered copper pot still, the Brit Mini 100, built by Britstill. Every stage of the process, from distillation and production through to bottling, takes place at the distillery on the island. Looking ahead, there are plans to expand the distillery’s facilities, increase production, and support further employment within the local community.
