    About Isle of Tiree Distillery

For friends Ian Smith and Alain Campbell, both from the Scottish Hebridean island Tiree, starting a distillery on the island they called home had been a dream that began in 2012 when they formed the Tiree Whisky Company. Ian and Alain, both passionate whisky drinkers and proud of their island culture and heritage, wanted to establish a distillery where they could craft a range of spirits, including Scottish Gin, that merged aspects of the Isle of Tiree, local folklore, culture and heritage. When a site in West Hynish in the southwest of the island came up for sale, Ian and Alain knew its stunning views would make it the perfect spot for their distillery. In February 2019, the Isle of Tyree Distillery opened its doors and began spirits production, making it the first legal distillery on the island for 217 years.

    Production

The Isle of Tyree Distillery is home to several stills used for the production of whisky and their range of Tyree Gins. The main still used for gin production is the iStill, a modern, computer controlled still that offers the distiller complete control and precision over the distillation process, ensuring consistency and quality across every batch of Tyree Gin produced at the distillery. A range of traditional Portuguese copper alembic stills of various sizes are used for whisky production.
